POSITION: Senior Director of Construction – Redevelopment
• Directed redevelopment and CR/CI work valued at over fifteen million dollars annually in the central Virginia region from Charlottesville to Virginia Beach.
• Primary responsibility for the net profit or loss on each project.
• Managed a successful program of VHDA tax credit redevelopment projects in the Tidewater area with budgets in excess of eight million dollars.
• Successfully worked on guiding Phase II of a Virginia Beach project through initial approvals for over twenty million dollars worth of total redevelopment.

• Team Leader for all development and construction related activities for multi-family condos, town home and single family projects on multiple sites with average annual division sales revenue of over 30 million dollars and total sales volume over 230 homes per year.
• Effectively led the development team consisting of sales professionals and a development manager while at the same time negotiating subcontracts and supply agreements and holding subcontractors and vendors accountable for performance.

• Managed and coordinated all daily field work by our Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers working on site.
• Responsible for all building progress and maintaining construction schedules as set by the company.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining all OSHA safety requirements on site.
• Liaison with project architects over routine plan interpretation and more serious structural design issues as they arose.
• Liasion with on-site property management team which included the property manager, her staff, and the maintenance manager and his staff.

POSITION: Project Construction Manager
• Responsible for all daily construction, sales and development activities for Masters Series of estate homes at Belmont Country Club in Leesburg, VA, which were semi-custom luxury homes in excess of one million dollars.
• Duties included managing all construction related scheduling and performance, sales goals and sales performance, all development activity, customer relations, site maintenance and supervision, and supervision of assistant construction staff.
• Managed the process of plan revisions and corrections with the architects and engineering departments.
• My main focus with Toll was on quality construction, cost control and customer satisfaction from the initial sales contact through the option selection process and to the close of the home.
• Assisted on the construction of Belmont’s gold maintenance facility, a commercial facility on the grounds of the Belmont Country Club.
• I was also a Construction Manager with Toll Brothers at the Estates of Great Falls Crossing prior to being selected for one of the first positions at Belmont Country Club.
1990 – 1994 Walters & Associates, Inc. Bethesda, MD
POSITION: Vice President & Co-Owner
• Started a remodeling and new home construction company from scratch.
• Managed all daily office administrative functions and coordinated field operations.
• Responsible for supervising, purchasing, scheduling, client relations and sales, permit processing, labor and cash flow projections, subcontractor management, new project research, strategic planning for the company, liaison with city and county officials and daily contact and site visits to evaluate job progress.
• Managed the in-house design work on AutoCAD with larger projects being contracted out to several area architecture and engineering firms.
• Grew the company to six full-time field employees and three to five projects per month for gross revenues of one to three million per year.

• Managed high-end custom home residential construction projects from inception to completion for a residential general contractor.
• Handled all administrative office functions including computer systems, personnel and customer relations, time management and daily labor resource scheduling.
• Responsible for management of the construction and field oversight of small cluster town home developments on Capitol Hill and in close-in PG County, Maryland.
• Handled city, county and state matters regarding code issues, zoning and permitting.
• Direct project responsibilities included quantity plan take-offs, estimating, AIA format bid document preparation, subcontractor and supplier management and working with architects on project bids and design criteria.
• Responsibilities also included detailed residential and light commercial plan reading, CPM scheduling and resource management.

POSITION: Program Specialist for East European Affairs
• Administered a program of scientific exchanges between the NAS and the Academies of Sciences in the countries of the former Eastern Europe.
• Prepared annual budgets and performed monthly cost accounting using Lotus, D-Base 3 and Paradox database systems.
• Oversaw day-to-day operation and administrative aspects of the exchange program including coordination of the scientific exchanges with the CIA, US Department of State, Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Science Foundation.
